General Liability Insurance

General Liability insurance can help protect your business when you are held responsible for certain bodily injury, property damage, or other covered claims arising from your business operations.

Whether you operate a storefront, office, professional service, or mobile business, the right liability coverage can be an important part of protecting what you’ve built.

What can General Liability insurance cover?

  • Bodily injury to third parties: Help address covered claims when a customer, visitor, or other third party is injured in connection with your business

  • Damage to someone else’s property: Help protect your business when your operations accidentally damage property belonging to another person or business

  • Personal and advertising injury: Coverage may respond to certain covered claims involving offenses such as libel, slander, or other qualifying personal and advertising injuries

  • Products and completed operations: Protection for certain covered claims arising from products you sell or work you have completed

  • Premises and operations: Coverage can address certain liability exposures associated with your business location and day-to-day operations

  • Landlord and property-management requirements: Many commercial leases require tenants to carry General Liability insurance and name the landlord or property manager as an Additional Insured

  • Certificates of Insurance (COIs): I can help you provide certificates documenting your coverage when landlords, clients, venues, vendors, or other parties require them

  • Additional Insured and contractual requirements: When appropriate and available, endorsements can help address insurance requirements imposed by contracts, leases, events, or other business relationships

What can I do?

I can help you identify the liability exposures associated with your business, review the insurance requirements you’ve been given, and explore coverage options from the insurance markets available to me. If there are additional parties requiring they be named as Additional Insured, I can help you coordinate with them and generate additional Certificates of Insurance (COIs).

Whether you’re opening your first business, signing a new lease, taking on a larger client, or simply reviewing your existing protection, I’ll help you understand what you’re buying and how it can protect your business.

Need more than liability coverage?

General Liability protects against many third-party claims, but it doesn’t provide the same protection for your own business property or income after a covered loss.

If your business owns equipment, inventory, furniture, computers, tools, or other property, or if a covered loss could interrupt your ability to operate, a Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) may be worth considering.

A BOP can combine General Liability with coverage such as Business Personal Property and Business Income, subject to the policy’s terms, limits, and exclusions.
